*Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education for The School District of Philadelphia has canceled its March 12, 2026 Goals and Guardrails Meeting originally scheduled for this day. In its place there will be a Board-Hosted Facilities Planning Town Hall: The Board will convene a dedicated town hall on March 12th at 4pm focused exclusively on the Facilities Planning process, where public testimony is the only agenda item, ensuring community voices guide the discussion. The town hall will feature 90 registered speakers—60 general and 30 student speakers-representation from each impacted school community that has registered will be prioritized. Registered speakers will be permitted to attend either in-person or remotely via the Zoom video conferencing platform. Philadelphia Board of Education
The Board of Education is the governing body responsible for overseeing all policies and budgetary decisions of the School District of Philadelphia. Additionally, the Board of Education serves as the authorizer for all charter schools in Philadelphia. The Board is made up of nine (9) Board Members who are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Board Members serve four-year terms that are co-terminus with the Mayor’s term.
