Leon @Leon_Documenter 3/44
Onto public Comments period. Bonnie Sanchez, President of the Near South Planning Board, spoke in support of Item D4 - a proposal to rehabilitate and construct a 5 story building with 47 residential units, 19 spots for bike parking, and 25 vehicular parking spots.
Leon @Leon_Documenter 4/44
On Item D2, Butler Adams stated that he was pleased with the facility and happy that it would activate an otherwise vacant lot, then recommended additions for more lush green spaces to it. #chicago #development
Leon @Leon_Documenter 5/44
On Item D5, Butler Adams was also happy that development is taking place in a "depressed" area, and stated that "I am glad that the South Side is finally being looked at." #chicago #southside #development
Leon @Leon_Documenter 6/44
The next speaker oppsed Item D1, saying that "there are way too many people that are homeless because CHA is suddenly selling land for things other than housing. Stop. We need housing. We need help, not a training facility." #housing #development #chicago
Leon @Leon_Documenter 7/44
Next person spoke against Item D3, a proposal to open a cannabis dispensary at 1147 S Wabash Ave. He claimed that it would lead to "drug overdoses," and that "thousands" of people would spill into the park and create traffic congestion and blockages in alleys. #cannabis #chicago
Leon @Leon_Documenter 8/44
A few more speakers spoke against the cannabis dispensary, citing that the location is ripe for robberies, crime, drug abuse, and liable to traffic congestion since there will not be parking available at the site. #chicago #cannabis #dispensaries #development
Leon @Leon_Documenter 9/44
Some more speakers vehemently opposed Item D1 for the soccer facility, stating that there are more pressing housing and employment issues at hand in the area that need to be addressed. #housing #development #planning #chicago

Leon @Leon_Documenter 26/44
